An easier semi-final round likely has never been played.
Both the league-leading Wright Physiotherapy Rockettes and second-place La Place Rendez-Vous Rage were handed forfeit victories last night to advance to the final of the Borderland Women’s Indoor Soccer League.
The Rockettes (8-2) were given the free pass after the last-place Shear Serenity Strykers (1-8-1) failed to come up with enough players.
Then in the scheduled nightcap, the third-place Fine Foods Fury (5-5) came up one short of the four players needed to start the game against the Rage (7-2-1).
As such, the top two teams will clash for the league crown next Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.
The Rockettes will be led by Golden Boot Award winner Maggie Jean, who topped all goal scorers this season with 18.
As for the Vous, Sara Kellar will fuel the offence after coming over from the now-folded Boston Pizza Ball Blasters midway through the season.
Meanwhile, the Strykers and Fury are slated to meet to decide third place next week at 7 p.m.
