The Riverside Foundation for Health Care is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a district-wide shindig on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Emo Legion starting at 6 p.m.
Tickets cost $10 each, and include chili and dawgs, foot-stompin’ fun and games, and great entertainment.
Foundation director Teresa Hazel commented on its success over the last 10 years.
“It’s hard to believe that is has been 10 years already but at the same time, so much has been accomplished,” she remarked.
“We’ve had two major fundraising campaigns, ‘Care Close to Home’ and ‘Just Imagine’ that have raised over $5 million combined. . . . It’s really quite incredible!”
Hazel spoke about the kindness and generosity shown throughout the years by the many dedicated volunteers and loyal supporters of the Foundation.
“It is very gratifying to work with and learn from so many dedicated people,” she said. “I also love hearing the many stories people share when making a donation.
“People really can and do make a difference.”
Hazel also acknowledged the many people who worked so hard to establish the Foundation back in 1997.
“We still have two founding board members, Larry Cousineau and Joan Allison, who remain on the board today,” she noted.
Cousineau, the current board chair, hasn’t lost his zest for the Foundation.
“It’s a great organization to be a part of and I am proud of its accomplishments,” he said. “I think one of the Foundation’s major successes has been its ability to unite the district in supporting health care.”
“It has definitely been a group effort,” echoed Allison, who has put the “fun” in fundraising over the years.
“The people of the Rainy River District should all take a bow for what they have accomplished in health care over the last 10 years,” she enthused.
“With that said, we invite everyone to come out and celebrate with us on Saturday, Nov. 3!”
Tickets are available at the Emo Health Centre, Rainy River Health Centre, and Cousineau Brokers, or by calling Hazel at 274-4803.
