D.J. White, from Walpole Island First Nation, took part in a Fancy Feather dance during the Rainy River First Nations’ annual pow-wow. The dance is a modern addition to the pow-wow, with dancers performing this style attempting to execute tricky footwork and acrobatic movements to a faster beat. A dancer’s regalia often is seen with beaded belt cuffs, a headband and armbands, beaded medallions on the forehead, and large feather bussels.
