The OPP and its Criminal Investigation Branch have initiated a new area on the OPP website focusing on unsolved homicides in Ontario.
The Unsolved Homicide Investigation Teams (UHIT) have been established to conduct a review of unsolved homicides, bringing cases up to current investigative standards and forensic analysis.
Many of these cases have been posted on the OPP’s website at www.opp.ca
The information includes case histories, photographs, and multimedia the public can view.
Any member of the public who has information on these cases is encouraged to contact police.
In Northwestern Ontario, a number of unsolved cases have been placed on the website, including:
•John Bonnefoy in 1985 in Atikokan;
•Susan Assin in 1974 in Kenora;
•Doreen Hardy and Jane Bernard in 1966 in Thunder Bay;
•Raymond Muckuck in 2006 in Pickle Lake; and
•Judy Ann Quill in 2009 in Pikangikum.
Additional cases will be added in the future.
People are encouraged to review this cases and, if you have information on these or any other homicides, to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
