Brenda Whalen of Fort Frances was the golden girl of the floor shuffleboard venue as she and teammate Gerald Whalen captured first place in the event held in conjunction with the District 1A Senior Games at the Sister Kennedy Centre. The two-day competition saw representatives from Fort Frances, Rainy River, Stratton, Kenora, and Dryden participate, with winners having the option to advance to the Ontario 55-Plus Summer Games on Aug. 9-11 in Midland.
