Tragic fire

A fixture of the business community, North Auto, has been leveled by a fire, which began around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning, and burned throughout the night. The 12-hour-long blaze required assistance from several area fire and emergency services, including LaVallee and Fort Frances. The fire began in a car parked to the east of the building. It spread up to the eaves, where it had access to the full attic of the building, enabling it to spread quickly, according to a release from the ACEL Fire and Rescue Service. The cause of the vehicle fire is still unknown. Although little remains of the building, there were no injuries reported. GoFundMe pages have been set up for the family who was living above the garage. – Ken Kellar photo
