‘Threadworks’ returns

hanging-exhibit

Curator Sherry George eyed up one of the 30-plus pieces in the “Threadworks 2016” exhibit that opened earlier this week at the Fort Frances Museum. The piece by Patricia Menon of Thornhill, Ont. is entitled “In The Domain of the Workhouse: A Land of Beauty and Despair.” It is a hand-stitched aerial map commemorating her English ancestors, the Powells, who for two centuries worked as labourers in Rother Valley, among the Sussex hills. The exhibit, which als marks the last time “Threadworks” will be here, runs through December.
