Crews from Lake of the Woods Electric are continuing their work running fibre optic cable through Fort Frances for Bell Canada, which reported the project is part of its 2009 capital upgrade program in Fort Frances, Barwick, Stratton, and Rainy River. The immediate benefit is that the new equipment has 100 percent redundant electronics. In terms of enhanced services, the project paves the way for future expansion of services although no immediate decisions have been made.
