Taking notes

Potential buyers took down their notes as local yearling and calf cattle were brought through the Stratton Sales barn during the sale on Saturday. The recent fire at the barn meant that room for cattle at the sale was tight, but Kim Jo Bliss noted that they still moved 1,268 head of cattle for a sales total of $1,437,177. There will be a sale for cull bulls and cows at the sales barn this weekend, part of what Bliss said is an effort to help out area farmers in a year that’s been difficult for hay. Bliss also said that they’re still waiting to get the all-clear to clean up the parts of the barn damaged in the fire, but are thankful for all of the people who have volunteered their time to help out. -Ken Kellar photo
