Ryan Verrier took a swing at the pitch on Saturday during the Kingsley Downs Memorial slo-pitch tournament in Devlin. Verrier was playing for the Downs team, which enters the tournament every year in memory of Kingsley, a longtime fastball umpire who was killed in a car accident after a tournament a few years ago. The team, which had been winless in three years, went on to win the ‘C’ division crown. Fubar captured the ‘A’ division while Shade won the ‘B’ title. —Crystal Green photo
