stretcher ride

Marc Stuempfle

Four-year-old Alex Matichuk enjoyed a stretcher ride during a barbecue for the public at the ambulance base in Atikokan on Saturday–an event to kick off “Paramedic Services Week.” This year’s theme is “Celebrating Successes” wth the aim being to promote careers in paramedicine and educate the public on the day-to-day life of a paramedic. The Rainy River Association of Professional Paramedics (RRAPP) are holding barbecues and open houses throughout the district. RRAPP is asking the public to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the local food bank or a cash donation to support a non-profit peer support group helping first responders dealing with PTSD. Come support and enjoy a free barbecue at the Emo ambulance base today (May 28) from 4-6 p.m.; in Rainy River on Thursday from 4-6 p.m.; and at the Fort Frances ambulance base this Saturday from noon-2 p.m.
