Maxine Ramier, left, and Gerri Yerxa, members of the local Elder Abuse Committee, were spreading awareness at Safeway today to prepare for Provincial Elder Abuse Awareness Day (Oct. 19). They are handing out information to elders, giving them notice as to what constitutes abuse and what they can do about it. Awareness will continue up until the official designated day, with a handful of local businesses using the leaflets with information about elder abuse as bag stuffers.
