Shining a light on woman abuse

Outgoing Fort Frances mayor June Caul and Riverside Community Counselling Services’s community family violence counsellor Jacquee Loerzel were on hand for the raising of the “Shine the Light” campaign flag at the Fort Frances Civic Centre on Tuesday morning. The flag marks November as woman abuse awareness and prevention month, and Riverside Community Counselling Services, a program of Riverside Health Care, is pleased to sponsor the Shine the Light campaign in the Rainy river District. According to Loerzel, the colour purple is used to symbolize courage, survival and honour, and they are asking the public to wear purple, and for businesses to decorate their offices and storefronts, on November 15, 2022 to show their support and help raise awareness.
