Bylaw enforcement officer Arlen Byrnes, left, Mayor Roy Avis, Deputy Mayor June Caul, Wayne Kaun of Ed Kaun and Sons, Chief Building Official Travis Rob, and bylaw enforcement officer Patrick Briere did the honours during a ribbon-cutting yesterday to official open the new Fort Frances Animal Shelter. The $85,000 shelter is safer and more comfortable for the stray dogs and cats it houses. The old shelter was more than 40 years old.
