CMHA Fort Frances geriatric mental health worker Sarah-lynn Klassen and Seniors Companion Project co-ordinator Andrea Avis led the first group of prospective volunteers through an information session for the project on Monday afternoon at the Fort Frances Public Library. The project will be running several additional volunteer information sessions in the next few months, aimed at amassing a list of people who are interested in participating in the project when it reaches its operational stage. There are three distinct programs that the project will encompass: Friendly Visiting, Stepping Out, and Friendly Phone Call. Volunteers can also email seniorsproject@fortfrances.ca for more information if they cannot attend an information session.
