Judges Kim Jo Bliss, left, and Shane Beckett talked to Grade 8 student Austin Mason about his science fair project—“The Dawn of Density of the Egg”—at J.W. Walker School last Wednesday, where he tested different diets for chickens to see which would produce the best eggs. Mason captured first place in the intermediate division and will be moving on to compete at the Sunset Country Regional Science Fair on March 28 in Red Lake. Also advancing are Katelyn Bruyere and Matt Barron, who placed second in the intermediate division, and Kaya Hammond, who placed third. In the junior divisions, the winners were Laura Cochrane (first), Christian Wiedenhoeft and Xavier Lloy (second), and Jenna Bailey (third).
