Val Smith of the Northwest Bay Beavers (71) didn’t need to surrender, as she safely beat out a grounder to short that Couchiching Lady Raiders first baseman Darcy Jones had to go skyward to corral the corresponding throw. The Beavers piled up 22 hits in a 29-6 win over the Lady Raiders in Couchiching last night in a makeup game in the Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League. A full slate of games takes place tonight across the district.
