A crowd of people waited for their turn to fill up a plate at Rainy River First Nations’ 49th-annual Manitou fish fry at the RRFN pow-wow grounds on Friday afternoon. Volunteers worked all day to cook up about 500 pounds of walleye, as well as french fries, wild rice and smoked sturgeon for roughly 1,000 people. Mostly sunny skies helped drive attendance up from last year’s fish fry, where a steady rain kept some people from taking part.
