Athletes from the local roller derby team displayed their skating skills at a “boot camp” run by members of the “Babes of Thunder Bay” team at the ’52 Canadians Arena here Saturday. Coach Shane Gorrell (a.k.a “Coach Nightscream”), referee Mandy Osipenko (a.k.a “Flaming Mo”), and blocker Kyle Gledhill (a.k.a “Lucretia Slams”) put the locals through a series of drills to help provide a basis for the young group, which boasts more than 20 members.
