J.W. Walker students Simone Payne, Rachel Anderson, Shakira Whitefish, and Grace Petsnick were busy filling up a garbage bag Friday as they participated in the annual “Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-up.” Walker students cleaned up along the La Verendrye Parkway and the riverfront, tallying up the amount of garbage found. Some of the numbers from this year’s clean-up included 236 plastic bags, 357 food wrappers/containers, and 91 beverage bottles. As well, 359 cigarettes butts were picked up, down from the 988 collected last year.
