Members of the Sunset Country Métis Community gathered at the Fort Frances Civic Centre with outgoing Fort Frances mayor June Caul to raise the Métis flag in recognition of Louis Riel Day on Thursday, November 16, 2022. The day marks the anniversary of Riel’s execution in 1885 and celebrates Métis culture and contributions they have made to Canada, while also highlighting the struggles the Métis continue to face.
