Mayor Roy Avis went live on 93.1 The Border’s broadcast from the cafeteria at La Verendrye Hospital this morning during a radio-a-thon for the “Together We Can” campaign to purchase a digital mammography unit. Avis donated $3,600 on behalf of his family and West End Motors. The radio-a-thon ran from 7-11 a.m. with the hopes of raising the final dollars for its $650,000 goal. Within the first hour-and-a-half, they were well on their way with $17,734 pledged.
