Pride on the move

Seine River First Nation held a Pride Walk on June 24, to show support for family, neighbours and friends in the LGBT2S+ community. About 25 people of all ages joined in the walk. The gathering began with an opening prayer and blessing from Elder George Boshkakyin, who called on our people to love and respect each other. Before the walk all walkers were treated to a lunch of wild rice soup and bannock, and given either a Pride Flag or a Pride Tank Top. Many also carried the rainbow colour balloons, to make for a very colourful walk. The event was spearheaded by Community Health Representative Frances Kabatay, and staff members Anita, Janet, Nebin, Gerald Sr., with thanks to Chief and council for making the event possible.
