Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 president Noris Piccinato, left, Sgt.-at-Arms Bob Boland, Mayor Roy Avis, and first vice-president Bob Bagacki kicked off the Legion’s annual poppy campaign this morning with a flag-raising at the Civic Centre. Poppies will be available at various locations around town, including Canadian Tire, Safeway, and Walmart, from now until Remembrance Day. Donations from poppy sales go towards caring for disabled veterans, maintaining graves and memorials, and a number of local charities, including the Riverside Foundation for Health Care.
