Legion member Roy Legarie presented Mayor Roy Avis with a poppy this morning to kick off the Royal Canadian Legion’s annual poppy campaign. Legion members will be distributing the poppies at various locations around town, including Canadian Tire, Canada Safeway, LCBO, and Wal-Mart, from now until Remembrance Day. Donations from poppy sales go towards caring for disabled veterans, maintaining graves and memorials, and a number of charities.
