Picket line

Members and supporters of OSSTF District 5B took to the picket line for the sixth time in six weeks after talks with the Rainy River District School Board, through a Ministry of Labour mediator, ended after 12 hours on Tuesday. Chief union negotiator Brian Church noted they seemed to be making process, and were hopeful for a deal, but when they got to the final issue—regarding seniority and the fair treatment of younger teachers—“things fell off the rails.” The information picket was relocated to the board office, with members addressing drivers entering the parking lot. Any further talks have not been scheduled.
