Margaret Schonewille, executive director of the local Alzheimer Society, weighed some pennies turned in during the annual “Penny for Your Thoughts” weigh-in Saturday morning at Canadian Tire here. The two-day fundraiser saw a total of 181 pounds of copper donated, including a 102-pound donation from the Royal Canadian legion Br. #29, and 30 pounds from Claude DeBenedet. Both the Legion and DeBenedet won prizes (a container of candy) for the most pennies turned in by a group and individual respectively.
