Jesse Thompson was set to release a shot while Anna Peters and Brayden Sabbe got ready to go hard on their brooms to sweep it down the ice during the Muskie mixed curling team’s win over the Red Lake Rams yesterday afternoon at the NorWOSSA championships at the Fort Frances Curling Club. The Muskies compiled a 3-1 record to earn silver while the Atikokan Voyageurs (4-0) won gold. In girls’ action, the Rainy River Owls snared gold with a perfect 4-0 record while the Muskies (3-1) took silver to both advance to NWOSSAA. On the boys’ side, the Rainy River Owls defeated Red Lake in a tie-breaker yesterday evening to claim gold and also advance. The Owls and Rams both had compiled a 3-1 record to force the tie-breaker. The Muskie boys finished shy of advancing with a 2-2 record.
