The drama began right off the start at the sixth International Boundary Waters Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, with the New Gold Nuggets (foreground) and the Kemira Paper Dragons in an all-out battle in the first qualifying heat of the day. It also decided who would win this year’s Manufacturers Cup as they were the lone two entrants in that category. New Gold not only prevailed in this race but also dethroned Kemira as the overall champs of the festival, which was held on the upper Rainy River.
