The Fort Frances Museum and Cultural Centre held a terrarium making workshop on Feb. 12. A terrarium is a transparent container, typicallly glass or hard plasic, which holds soil and small plants to house miniature self-sustaining ecosystems. The hands-on event offered participants ages 14 and up the op- portunity to get together at the museum and use provided supplies to build their terriums to take home in a group setting. Peter Dickson, a Fort Frances resident who recently moved to the area and works at Northern Community Development Services, is pictured placing a succulent into the soil of his terrarium. For $60, the museum supplied participants with the glass sphere container, various plants, soil, and small decorations. People who attended were also welcomed to brinhg along any other small decorations they wanted to implement into their tiny, handmade worlds.
