A watermain break early Friday morning caused a mudslide at the southeast corner of the Portage Avenue underpass, re-routing traffic to and from the north end via McIrvine Road for most of the day. Fortunately, the dirt and debris was cleaned up quickly and the underpass, which did not sustain any structural damage, was re-opened by sunset, just as Operations and Facilities manager Doug Brown had hoped. –Heather Ogilvie photo
