Rachel Jean, left, was among the youths who took turns leading “Bessie” the Jerusalem donkey along downtown streets Friday evening during the second-annual “Las Posadas” procession here. Children and adults from St. John’s Anglican Church (dressed as shepherds, angels, wise men, and Joseph and Mary) travelled from motel to motel as they looked for a place to stay. The traditional Mexican candle-lit procession is a symbolic way to commemorate the cold and difficult journey of Mary and Joseph from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of shelter.
