Casanova visit copy

Duane Hicks

Elizabeth Cousineau got her copy of “One-Dog Canoe” signed by popular Borderland author Mary Casanova yesterday evening at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre. Casanova, who hails from Ranier, Mn., spoke to about 35 children and adults about her life and writing, answered their questions, read a couple stories, and even had some kids help act out her story, “One-Dog Canoe.” Casanova has written several picture books, as well as numerous novels, including her own “Dog Watch” series, some historical fiction, and four volumes in the “American Girls” series (including “Chrissa Stands Strong,” which has been made into a movie). The children’s department at the library has many of Casanova’s books available.
