Marc Blayney, associate dean of community engagement for the Northern Ontario Medical School, gave a brief overview of the history of the school, as well as how it is run, to those on hand for a dinner yesterday evening at La Place Rendez-Vous. Other speakers included Dr. Roger Strasser, founding dean of the school, Wayne Woods, CEO of Riverside Health Care Facilities Inc., Dr. Jason Shack, and Deputy Mayor Sharon Tibbs. With the school’s first class graduating this year, the evening highlighted the work that’s been done to train doctors—and hopefully have them remain in Northern Ontario communities.
