Marching with ‘Pride’

Marching with 'Pride'

Stephanie Hagenaars

Over 200 people marched across the International Bridge on a hot and sunny Saturday morning for Rainy River District and Koochiching County’s inaugural “Passport to Pride” march. The march was led by high school students Raina Johnson and Macey McMillen, who carried the “Pride” banner. Starting in Smokey Bear Park in International Falls, the march was “the first ‘Pride’ march in the world (as far as we know) to cross an international border,” taking the group to the Fort Frances Tourism Information Centre, the Civic Centre for the flag ceremony and finally to Rainy Lake Square and Fort Frances Museum for a “BBQueer.”
