Anne Marie Armstrong, of the Sunset Country Métis, lit a candle during the annual service marking the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women last Thursday evening at Knox United Church here. The candlelight vigil honoured the 14 women killed 23 years ago in what has become known as the “Montreal Massacre,” as well as local women who have lost their lives at the hands of gender violence.
