Artist Shawna Grapentine was a special guest presenter at the first annual Gikendamok Onowen (Things You Must Know) Youth Gathering at Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Historical Centre. The two-day gathering was hosted by Weechi-it-te-win Family Services(WFS), as a way to discuss life skills and traditional Anishinaabe Teachings to more than 40 youth from across the district. Grapentine told her story about being chosen as one of four Indigenous artists from across Canada to help design the “Player of the game” hockey stick awards for the 2023 IIHF Women’s International Hockey Champions.
