Rayden Copenace of Riverview School in Rainy River added his thumb print to the painting created by artist Shawna Grapentine yesterday as part of Literacy Day activities there. The painting portrays a tree with the “Seven Grandfather” teachings at the roots, incorporating both French and Ojibwe languages and the students’ thumbprint leaves in a rainbow of colours. The day also included a variety of literacy activities, a book fair, and a lunch of alphabet soup.
