Alacea and Issiah Yerxa, left, Mikaelah Yerxa, and Sara Vandermeer joined students and families from St. Michael’s School, St. Francis School, and Our Lady of the Way School in Stratton yesterday evening as part of the first-ever Aboriginal Oral Language Night organized by the Northwest Catholic District School Board. Held at St. Michael’s, the evening celebrated the Ojibwe language by having students recite poems, songs, and speeches in front of friends and families, and was rounded out by a meal served by the Seven Generations culinary education students and staff.
