A 75-foot white spruce fell on Bob Gadd’s house in Crozier last Wednesday, knocked over by high winds. The huge tree caused a leak in his roof. Two other towering spruces in his yard were also felled by the elements that morning. Gadd planted all the trees back in 1953, and remarked Thursday he never thought he’d live so long as to see them grow so tall. —Duane Hicks photo
