Heidi Parr, with the United Native Friendship Centre, lit four candles during the vigil held Sunday afternoon at Knox United Church to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. More than 40 people attended the ceremony—which also coincided with the 20th anniversary of the “Montreal Massacre”—to remember women who have been victims of gender-based violence both here in Rainy River District and beyond.
