Lori Flinders, centre, of the Waabishkiibinesii Women Singers, explained the significance of the strong women’s honour song and the healing song that they performed during the candlelight vigil at Knox United Church here yesterday marking the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women. The lives of those women who died in the 1989 Montreal Massacre, as well as the women of Rainy River District who have lost their lives due to violence, were commemorated.
