Eight-year-old Chase Korkola, who was here from Edmonton visiting his grandmother, jumped in to help out with the sandbagging efforts at the Point last Thursday evening, filling bags held by Nicke Baird. The command post then was moved to the Sorting Gap Marina, where volunteers assisted in filling and laying sandbags along the walkway over the weekend. The process of protecting the riverfront was completed Sunday—with 26,000 bags in place to stave off potential flooding.
