Hazy days of summer

Fort Frances is currently dealing with the impact of several forest fires in the region as a haze of smoke has blanketed town for the past week, becoming particularly thick and noticeable yesterday afternoon. The website firesmoke.ca shows that thick layer of smoke is likely to linger for the foreseeable future, though we may see some reprieve later this week as winds shift towards the north-east. Environment Canada notes that reduced air quality due to forest fire smoke can cause symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath. Children, seniors and those with cardiovascular or lung disease such as asthma are especially at risk.
