Anton “Tony” Jacyk celebrated his 100th birthday yesterday at Rainycrest Long-Term Care. Jacyk came to the Fort Frances area from the part of Poland now known as Belarus when he was 15 and worked for the CNR until retiring in the 1970s. He said he isn’t sure what the key to his longevity is, but did admit he still exercises each and every morning. In addition to being surrounded by fellow residents, staff, and friends, Jacyk was visited by his great-nephews, Edward Karadontis and Robert Karadontis, and great-niece, Elise Oliveira, and her husband, Victor, all of whom came here from Vancouver, as well as local MP John Rafferty.
