Volunteers and employees with Family & Children’s Services here were extremely busy Friday sorting through all the emergency relief supplies for Pikangikum First Nation. Donations poured in from across the district—and beyond—for the children of Pikangikum, who live in a community facing a host of issues such as a lack of housing, proper sewer and water, substance abuse, and high unemployment rates. Now that donations have been collected, FACS is looking for ways to get the supplies to the fly-in community located 100 km north of Red Lake.
