A large thermometer has been erected in front of the Fort Frances Museum to help keep track of the “Families for Families” refugee family fundraiser. Committee chair Kathy Mueller noted as of yesterday morning, the total amount raised was $15,930. They hope the goal of $35,000—to bring a refugee family of five to Rainy River District—will be raised by Christmas. Donations can be given through St. Mary’s Parish or the local CIBC, with representatives also to be set up at Safeway on Saturday and Walmart on Sunday to collect contributions. Zion Lutheran Church here also is hosting a fundraiser dinner for the cause this Friday.
