Fish study

Students from Carleton University in Ottawa, led by Dr. Steven Cooke, right, examined a bass during the Rainy Lake Fall Bass Classic at LaBelle’s Birch Point Camp over the weekend. The group was monitoring behavior, stress levels, and examining the external features of fish caught in live-release tournaments. Several bass also were tagged with a radio-tracking device for further research. Results of the study, funded by the Rainy Lake Fisheries Charity Trust, should be available in the near future.
