Mike Glueheisen was the first 40-year-old to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine adminis- tered at Pharmasave in Fort Frances last week. This was before Ontario announced that the AstraZeneca vaccine will no longer be given as a first dose, as increased risk of vaccine-in- duced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VIIT) was seen. Christine Elliott, Ontario’s deputy premier, said those who received their first done of the AstraZeneca vaccine did the right thing to protect themselves and their communities.
