Heavy smoke could be seen across the river in Ranier, Minn. yesterday evening. According to the Rainy Lake Gazette, the plumes of smoke were from a fire reported at 5:11 p.m. at Northernaire Houseboats. When fire crews arrived, the main office/home at Northernaire was fully engulfed in flames. Two victims required medical attention due to the blaze. One was in stable condition and treated at Rainy Lake Medical Center. The other was listed in critical condition, and transported to a larger medical facility.
